XCOM switches from first to third person.

When Xcom was announced by 2K back in 2010 there was a large amount of pushback from fans of the series who did not want to see the game removed from its strategic roots.  Since then those fans have settled down quite a bit, mostly due to the announcement of Firaxis’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown.  Since then we haven’t heard much about the first person XCOM.

The reasoning behind this is that the game is apparently going through a complete overhaul. This was revealed via marketing survey that had screenshots showing the game using a third person cover based style. The marketing survey also mentions that the game is being developed for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but there is no mention of a PC version of the game.

I had no real attachment to the XCOM series when this game was first announced so I never really minded the idea of it being a first person shooter.  That being said if they decide to skip making a PC version of the game I will definitely be disappointed.
