Wii U Japanese Launch Date and Pricing Confirmed

Nintendo has just announced this morning that the Wii U will be coming out this December 8th in Japan.  The system will come in the form of two models: the premium model which comes with 32 gigs of Flash memory, a Wii U GamePad, a GamePad stylus, a GamePad Charging station, some stands for the controller and console, a HDMI cable and will be priced at 31,500 yen ($405).  The basic model of the console will come with 8 gigs of flash memory, a Wii U GamePad, a HDMI cable and will cost 26,250 yen ($338).

Nintendo also announced pricing for some games and peripherals as well.  The Wii U GamePad will cost 13,440 yen ($177) on its own, New Super Mario Bros. U will cost 5,985 yen ($77) and Nintendo Land will cost 4,935 yen ($66).

Seems a bit pricey to me but I am no expert in the Japanese economy.  Hopefully they do some price modification for North America.
