Two new games and a movie announced at the Metal Gear 25th Anniversary Party in Tokyo

The 25th Anniversary of the Metal Gear Franchise is today and to celebrate Konami held an event in Tokyo. During the event Konami announced that Columbia Pictures and Avi Arad will be working on a Hollywood film based on the Metal Gear franchise.

Afterwards Hideo Kojima announced a new title in the MGS franchise named Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.  According to Konami MGS:GZ is an open world game that uses the new Fox Engine that Kojima Productions has been working on. It also seems that Big Boss is once again the main character for this entry into the franchise seeing as there seems to be an eye patch over the protagonists right eye. The game is said to be running on a PC that has specs similar to that of an Xbox 360 and PS3 but, the game has yet to be announced for either console as of yet.

Also announced at the event was a new social game based on the Metal Gear Solid franchise called Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops.  The game, which is being developed by Gree will “let players relive the stories from past entries in the series”.  The game will have players using cards to engage in battle and have base development aspects similar to those found in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Out of the three announcements I would have to say I am most excited for Ground Zeroes.  Sure a movie sounds cool but lets face it, most video game based movies are mediocre at best.

I bet the Movie will be terrible as well as the social game; however, I am very much looking forward to Ground Zeroes, despite its terrible name.
