PopCap Dublin Studio Closes

PopCap Dublin has recently closed its doors leaving 96 staff in Ireland out of work.  The studio was originally formed in 2006 to work on product localization and mobile game development.  The closure of the studio follows layoffs earlier this year when PopCap laid off 50 employees at its Seattle Headquarters in order to restructure its business for the free to play, social and mobile gaming markets.

PopCap is providing outplacement support for those hit by these layoffs and EA has even said that they are looking at creating 300 positions for an Irish support center for their MMO games.

Though honestly, I would hate to work in support. Here is hoping all goes well for those affected by the layoffs.
