Official EA/Dice servers disappearing from Battlefield 3 on Consoles

In a move which I’m sure surprises no one, a large amount of EA and Dice servers for battlefield 3 seem to have disappearing recently.  The DICE servers specifically have been completely removed from both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game.  A search for EA servers did find 17 servers available on the PS3 version of the game; however, none of these servers are running the games Conquest mode.  What makes this all the more hilarious is that this all began not very long after EA had begun renting servers out to players for $ 30 USD a month.

When asked about the server shut downs DICE community manager Daniel Matros responded by saying “There is only so much physical space and digital space where you can have servers. The community requested and we delivered”. When asked if the server removal would be permanent Daniel Matros answered by saying that “Everything in the wonderful world of Battlefield is dynamic.”

I would say I’m surprised EA would do such a thing but then again if EA didn’t do stuff like this all the time then they probably wouldn’t have been voted worst company in America.  Way to keep it classy EA.
