EA shutting down servers for online games is nothing new. They have been doing it for years to their titles but there is an interesting fact about this current run of server shut downs. EA will for the first time be shutting down servers for games that use the Online Pass system. The first wave of server shut downs will be on March 31st with a second wave coming on April 13th.
This is one of the main problems I have with Online passes. Sure they say they are using the money they get from forcing used buyers to purchase the pass to help support the servers for the games but this makes that seem like a lie. Lets just hope they at least actually remove the option to purchase these online passes from the online marketplaces.

I’ve not bought an EA game (except SWTOR, which I no longer play) in almost 3 years.
Unfortunately just me not buying their games isn’t going to change anything.

Eventually with enough anti consumer business they may lose most customers, stay strong.

If you actually look at the list it’s a bunch of pretty useless and old games. Not really a big deal. The only thing that kinda makes me think is the Battlefield 3 for iPhone. I tried playing that game from the day it launched to 3 weeks ago and not a single time have the servers been up for me. It was always “We’re working on the problem thanks for your patience!” I guess this is them “Fixing” the server. lol

I don’t live in a cave without internet, so this isn’t a problem for me. My power and internet has been out, collectively, for about 1 hour for the past year.
It would be even less if I replaced my battery backup.
