Dystopian Legions is another new game from Spartan Games. With the announcement of Dystopian Legions it seems that Spartan Games is ready to enter the crowded and hyper-competitive arena that is 28mm company based games. Click the Jump for more images as well as more detail about the upcoming game
Spartan has been a busy company lately cranking out new game systems faster than any company in the industry. Their three main games (Firestorm Armada, Dystopian Wars and Uncharted Seas) have all received new updated rules. Spartan Studio was just announced and a 10mm game set in the Firestorm Armada universe was just announced less than a month ago, and now we have Dystopian Legions.
The models themselves are made from a mix of pewter and resin. which should make them very detailed out of the mold. As far as the success of the game is going to go though I’m a little skeptical. 28mm is the land of Warmahordes and Warhammer, both games require a lot of financial and time investment, have unwavering zealots for fans and are so well established in the minds of their players that most other games of the same scale don’t even register on their radars.
Though Dystopian Legion’s has a slightly different take on the Steampunk Genre I’m not sure it’s going to register well with fans. We’ll have to see what the response is to this game and whether or not it will get people to pick it up and play. Spartan has made a reputation for themselves within the fleet battle arena with their top three games. It will be interesting to see how their first entry into 28mm will play.
Do you guy’s think it will take off?
