We recently had the opportunity to interview David J. Lewis, founder of Hawk Wargames, about several aspects of the development process of Dropzone Commander. Dave was extremely gracious in giving us the time for this interview and providing thoughtful answers to our questions:

You know it’s TYG when, thanks to some technical difficulties, we end up having to post the first installment of our new occasional tabletop and boardgame series, Tabletop Thursday, on Friday.
In this installment, we playtest the new Iron Kingdoms RPG by Privateer Press. As you’ll see in the video, we ended up liking the game quite a bit. We particularly liked it in comparison to D&D 4E, which most of us have also played.
We hope you enjoy the video, and stay tuned for more installments of Tabletop Thursday on random Thursdays in the future (or Fridays, as the case may be!).

Well we managed to get a video done even though it was Fan Expo this week. We played another game of Dropzone Commander. This will be our last game of Dropzone Commander for a while as we will be focusing on getting bigger armies (And painting them) as well as better terrain for the game.
Also we have changed the format again this week, and will be playing with the current formula a bit over the next couple of episodes in the hope of giving you guys a better batrep experience. Please let us know what you think
Thanks for Watching!

Were back with hasty batrep for Scenario Two from the DzC rulebook. We were able to play three turns of this game within 1.5 hrs of serious play which is truly amazing, and even though we had to call it at the end it was still a close game with Lorenzo literally securing his win by the skin of his teeth through the careful use of movement extending cards. Wow is it just me of has it been a long time since I’ve posted a news article… Anyway today Studio Sparta was announced by the people at Spartan Games (They make Firestorm Armada/Dystopian Wars and Uncharted Seas tabletop games. Studio Sparta is a mail order company that offers a diverse range of figures, vehicles and scenery that do not have any of the constraints of being locked to our core games, and are not limited to models that can be mass-produced for stores to stock. Do you want to know more?

Right it’s not Wednesday but since Dropzone Commander is new and we’ve been a bit late with the videos lately Lor and I decided what the hell. This weeks video we replay the scenario from the bonus video, however this time we added loads of PDF terrain (What we’ve determined to not be enough after this video.) We also incorporated a more detailed description of the rules for those of you who were on the fence. Click the jump to watch the video!

We couldn’t help our selves and we wanted to give you guys an amuse bouche of Dropzone Commander as soon as possible. Check out this video to see our first test game of Dropzone Commander. While not a true DzC game (due to lack of terrain) this video should give you guys a taste of how the game plays. Stay tuned for more detailed videos in the coming weeks as we go all in on this game.

The time has finally come. Me and Lor have been waiting for these models to arrive since they were first announced at Salute. Hawk Wargames and their first release Dropzone Commander had a lot of hype behind them and now we finally get to see if all the buzz was worth it. Click the jump and watch two more videos to see whats on offer and our thoughts.
