Fan Expo 2012: Cosplay Masquerade (Part 2/3)

One of the largest events every year at Fan Expo is the Cosplay Masquerade: A damn near three hour extravaganza of cosplayers, costumes, and corny jokes by the announcer. The masquerade is a cosplay stage show and competition where Fan Expo attendees get 15-30 seconds on stage to impress the crowd, and the judges, with their costuming talent and vie for awards in various categories.

TYG was fortunate enough to be able to cover the complete event, and we will be bringing it to you in three ~50 minute videos (uploaded in 720p because the 1080 versions are simply too big).

This is the second part, the third will follow soon!

Jon also discusses his role in Frank Darabont’s new television project “L.A. Noir” as well as Martin Scorsese’s new film “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Norman Reedus, meanwhile, finally arrived for the panel about 20 minutes into it and shares his thoughts on playing a character that wasn’t in the comics, Daryl’s character development in the absence of his abusive brother Merle, and the potential for conflict if and when they will be re-united.

Fan Expo 2012: Marvel Now Panel

In this panel Axel Alonso, C. B. Cebulski, Nick Lowe, Stephen Wacker, Arune Singh and Tony Moore talk about the upcoming re-launch of many of the major marvel titles coming this october, as well as announcing some new titles like A+X which will feature team-ups of Avengers and X-Men characters.

The panel gets especially interesting when Deadpool takes over the mic and demands answers the future of the character.  They also showed off the censored trailer for the upcoming Deadpool game but I figured since were all probably adults here ( I think?) that I would cut in the un-cut version for you guys instead. ( though really its just me covering for my shoddy camera work )

Personally I cant wait to see what these new creative teams can do.  Especially Rick Remender with Uncanny Avengers. Read the rest of this entry »

Fan Expo 2012: From Gaming Enthusiast To Gaming PR with Jay Acevedo of Ubisoft Canada

Jay Acevedo, PR Manager for Ubisoft Canada, hosts a panel titled “Why Not? From Gaming Enthusiast to Gaming PR” at Fan Expo 2012.

In his panel, Jay discusses his transition from a Gaming Enthusiast writing about videogames for blogs as a hobby, to becoming PR Manager for Ubisoft Canada. He emphasizes the importance of dedication and originality as central themes in distinguishing oneself as an up and coming videogame blogger, writer, podcaster or Youtube video maker from the many others out there pursuing similar projects.

Jay also took a variety of questions from the audience on a wide range of topics and ended his panel with a little trivia contest for some giveaways.

All in all the panel was very educational for anyone interested in breaking into the videogame industry as an amateur journalist (like us, for example).

Please Note: Some footage of off-topic questions was edited out of my footage, and there is an interruption in one of Jay’s answers because like the rank amateur I am, I was forced to swap batteries in the middle of one of his answers.
