The Dark Knight Rises: Bane’s Voice Comparison

Bane’s voice comparison (IMAX prologue vs… by mrstevenrichter

By now I hope many of you have watched The Dark Knight Rises, and while i loved the movie, it is not without it’s flaws. I will most likely compile a small list soon, but for starters Bane’s voice was a bit of a annoyance for me. Above is a side by side comparison of the IMAX preview and the Final Cut. Honestly in the final cut, Bane sounds too much like Deckard Cain from Diablo, not to mention the fact that the voice never sounds the same between scenes. But I digress for now..

Peter Jackson Confirms Hobbit 3rd Installment

Well the first two are not even out yet, and my anticipation is almost already peaked, but now we have been told that the Hobbit story will be 3 movies long. In a previous podcast we discussed how this was a clear money grab, but in the end we pretty much said “really… we just want more middle earth, so shuddap and take my money.” Now that it is three movies does our previous argument still hold water? Hit the Jump for the statement from Peter Jackson!

Guardians of the Galaxy Movie Announced

This news kinda comes as a shock to me.  I know there has been a ton of rumours of Marvels next big ensemble movie being a Guardians of the Galaxy movie but I never in my wildest dreams thought they would be true. Marvel broke the news to the world yesterday night during a panel at SDCC.  Characters that are confirmed for the film so far include Starlord, Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Mantis, and Rocket Raccoon. The film is scheduled to be in theatres on August 1, 2014.

The only thing that shocks me more than the idea of this movie existing is that they are actually going with Rocket Raccoon, I would have totally expected them to replace him with Nova or something.

Mass Effect: Paragon Lost – Comicon 2012 Trailer

Funimation recently showed this trailer for the upcoming Mass Effect Anime at this years San Diego Comicon.  The anime is a feature-length collaboration between BioWare and Production I.G. (the makers of Patlabor and Ghost in the Shell) and is scheduled for release this November 13th.

I can’t really say I care much of the idea of an anime based off Mass Effect but hey I’m a pretty big fan of some of Production I.G. so I’m willing to give it a shot. Read the rest of this entry »

Man of Steel Costume at Comic-Con

The new costume is being shown off at comic-con for the ‘newer’ adaption of the Superman franchise, entitled Man of Steel. I find the new costume much to my liking, as it has a more gritty, real world feel then most of the Superman pajamas from the past. The cape is done in a Roman centurion fashion with it beginning tightly over the shoulder just above the collar bone; giving it a badass look. I also like the ‘out-of-this-world’ look on the wrist, and waist line, the sharp rivets give a nice alien feel.  Well Done! Thanks to IGN for the pictures. Hit the jump for more pictures

Official ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Synopsis

It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act.

But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

The Dark Knight Rises Will be LONG!

This little tidbit of news became relevant to me after watching the movie Ted this weekend. How is this related? Let me explain. It has been an amazing hot summer for us Southern Ontarian’s.. and before entering the theater this long weekend I drank a bottle of water to cool off. As well, I purchased myself another beverage with some popcorn before the movie started. Now the movie Ted was only 106 minutes, however, after consuming that much liquid it was only a matter of time until I’d have to visit the little boys room. Low and behold about three quarters into the movie I had to go, now because I’m not 40+, and can still hold my bodily functions, I was able to sit through the rest of the movie, however uncomfortable it was. Now back to my point, the Dark Knight Rises will be 164 minutes, (for those of you who cannot convert that, it’s 2 hours and 44 minutes). I would advise viewers of this movie to think ahead when venturing to see what I think will be a masterpiece of a Batman movie. Batman Begins ran for 140 minutes, whilst The Dark Knight lasted 153 minutes. At least, we will be getting our moneys worth, 2 hours and 44 minutes is definitely a bum-numbing experience. No pun intended.

Game of Thrones: Clive Russell cast as the Blackfish

According to the website of Shepherd Management, Clive Russell has been cast in the role of Brynden “The Blackfish” Tully.

Best known for his British Television show appearances: Coronation Street, Middlemarch, and Cracker. Most recently he played Captain Tanner in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.”

Who is he?

“Ser Brynden Tully, is the younger brother of Hoster Tully and the uncle of Catelyn Stark, Lysa Arryn, and Edmure Tully. He constantly quarreled with his brother, usually over Brynden’s refusal to be married. During one encounter Hoster called him the black goat of House Tully. Brynden mused that since their sigil was fish, he was the “Blackfish” of the family. He accompanied Lysa to the the Vale and was named Knight of the Gate by Jon Arryn.[2] In A Game of Thrones, he is upset over the Vale’s neutrality in the ongoing war” … this is where we meet him, it’s gonna be a great season!

Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Connor MacLeod in the reboot of the Highlander franchise.

The new story is credited to The Tracking Board who was first to break the news. “The remake is set to be helmed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who is also in negotiations to rewrite the script. Neal Moritz and Peter Davis will produce the film.”

I wonder if he can pull of the accent… for those of you who are unfamiliar with the Highlander story this should help you get up to date
