Obsidian launches Kickstarter for Project Eternity

For those of you who dont know who Obsidian Entertainment is, they are the development team behind games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, Icewind Dale and Fallout: New Vegas.

Just today they launched a Kickstarter for a new isometric party-based fantasy RPG called Project Eternity. The game promises to bring clasic Baulder’s Gate style RPG for a new generation. So far the game is only announced for the PC but it wouldn’t surprise me if they added a few more platforms later.

It’s good to see that there are still people out there who want to make a good classic style PC RPG, hopefully Obsidian can pull it off. Read the rest of this entry »

Killzone Trilogy coming this October 23rd

Sony has just announced that they will be releasing Killzone Trilogy on October 23 in North America and October 24 for Europe for $39.99/€49.99.  The collection comes with all three Killzone games but those who don’t have backwards compatibility on their PS3 need not worry, because the collection comes with an HD re-release for Killzone 1 that features a graphical makeover and trophy support.  Also included in the collection are all of the DLC bundles for Killzone 2 and 3.

Also for those of you that may already own Killzone 2 and 3, Killzone HD can also be acquired digitally on its own via the PSN store.

Rayman Jungle Run announced for iOS and Android

Ubisoft has just announced that Rayman will be coming to iOS and Android this September 20th in the form of Rayman Jungle Run. The game is one of those auto run games like say, Canabalt or Temple run and shares the same art style as Rayman Origins.

It certainly looks pretty good and I do still find myself playing a crap ton of Canabalt so I am definitely looking forward to this.   Read the rest of this entry »

Trailer: Sega Heritage Collection

Sega gas released a new trailer showing off some footage of their upcoming digital re-releases of Jet Set Radio, Nights into Dreams and Sonic Adventure 2.  The trailer reveals that Jet Set Radio will be released this September while Nights and Sonic Adventure 2 will be getting released sometime in October.

For those of you interested in specifics we actually have more details on Jet Set Radio.  The game will be hitting PSN for PlayStation Plus users on September 11th, regular PSN members on September 18th XBLA on September 19th and the PSvita on October 16th.  No specific dates for the other games are known as of yet.

I must admit that I certainly love to be able to Play Jet Set Radio on the go and I am definitely looking forward to the re-release of Nights as well but I couldn’t care less about Sonic Adventure 2. I hated that game as a kid, mostly due to all the Knuckles/Rouge and Eggman/Tails levels though.

Fan Expo 2012: LG Dual Screen Technology

Trevor interviews a girl from the LG Booth showcasing their new LG Dual Screen glasses which may eliminate the need for split screen in local co-op games. As a big fan of co-op games I’m in love with this even if the price tag is crazy. Check out the video and let us know what you think about this new tech.

Fan Expo 2012: TYG Gets Some Hands on Gameplay Experience with Halo 4 Multiplayer

TYG had the chance to get some hands-on playtesting experience with Halo 4 multiplayer. Sorry for the marginal sound but technically we were only supposed to take pics and we would have lost all plausible deniability if we had a hand carried mic out!

Planetary Annihilation – A Next Generation RTS

We have an original-ish idea, and where better to get it funded then Kickstarter. It is no surprise that original ideas are few and far between. Walk into you local GameStop, and take a look at the upcoming pre-order wall and you will see sequels of sequels on the horizon. (Halo 4, Borderlands 2, Assassins Creed 3, etc). Who am I kidding, even this game is ‘inspired’ by a game Total Annihilation. Sigh…. Regardless, it looks really good. For a small pledge of $15 (early bird special) you could get a game that promises “a truly innovative spin on what RTS games can and should be.” It is going to feature game play on a Planetary scale, and even allows you to create your own maps. Check out the video above for some planet conquering action.

Rayman Legends Gamescom Trailer

What better way to show off the new Wii U features then with a new Rayman Legends trailer! This trailer is very similar to what we saw at E3, you can control the green sprite with the touch screen, allowing you to interact with the game world. This allows you to do such things, but not limited to:  lifting pillar-like creatures on the ground, shrinking barriers, cutting ropes, moving platforms, launching fireworks and tickling enemies with shields to reveal their weak point so your allies can attack it for MASSIVE DAMAGE! Also, you will be expected to rotate the controller in different directions to make the game world change. That’s a lot of pressure for such a (green) little guy.  Rayman Legends is due out just before Christmas, look for it under a tree near you!
