More Dead or Alive 5 Costume DLC Out Now

More costume DLC for Dead or Alive 5 has surfaced and while these packs are not free like the original set they certainly have a few interesting additions to them. The three new packs are titled the “Kitty Pack”, the “What a Character” pack and the “Special Set” pack.

The “Kitty Pack” has a bunch of Cat costumes for Christie, Helena, Lisa and Tina. The “What a Character” pack has bar maid outfits for Hitomi and Mila, a Bartender outfit for Rig, and a Masquerade outfit for Lisa. Fianlly the “Special Set” pack includes Panda Bear themed outfits for Lei fang and Kasumi, as well as a Fiend costume for Hayabusa and a Black Dress for Lisa.

Each pack is available for 5 bucks each on XBLA and PSN; however, if you plan on getting all three packs you can purchase them as a set for 13 bucks on XBLA. The bundle pricing will be available on PSN as well but you will have to wait until next week to get it.

Something tells me this isn’t the last we will see of DLC costumes for DOA 5. Hopefully there not all as pandering as these packs are though. Read the rest of this entry »

Lionhead hit with Layoffs

It’s always sad to be reporting on the loss of work and in this case it is no exception to that rule as Microsoft has stated that they have laid off just under “ten percent of staff” at Lionhead Studios. This follows the release of the studio’s latest game Fable: The Journey and while it is common for studio’s to downsize after a release it is still a shame to see people out of work.

I have been a big fan of Lionhead since the original Black and White on PC so this news definitely saddens me. I hope things work out of the people affected by these layoffs.

Devil May Cry – NYCC Trailer

Capcom recently showed off a new trailer for the upcoming reboot of Devil May Cry at this years New York City Comicon. The trailer certainly feels like the game is sticking to its roots with its massive use of Death Metal in the trailer itself.

In other DMC related news Capcom has also announced that they will be releasing a Demo of the game prior to its release; however, currently the demo is only confirmed to be coming to consoles.

I have to say that I certainly am looking forward to this reboot of Devil May Cry. Sure there are a bunch of fans up in arms about the new Dante redesign but I welcome the change. That and I am a huge fan of Ninja Theory. Read the rest of this entry »

EA Blunders with Origin Coupon Codes

I’m almost positive somebody at EA’s Origin division is having a real bad day today thanks to a mishap that allowed user’s of EA’s Origin service to score a bunch of free games this weekend.  The issue stemmed from an online survey that offered a $20 credit on your origin account upon completion; however, this coupon code did not expire on redemption and could be redeemed again by logging off and then re-logging back into the Origin store.

Once this news spread on the major social networks it became somewhat of a wildfire spreading throughout the internet with friends sharing their codes and downloading multiple games off Origin. EA has since ended the promotion and has stated that it will honour the discount offer to those who have used it this weekend.

This news came as quite a shock to me but perhaps not for the reason you may think.  The idea that EA could make a mistake this colossal does not surprise me at all; however, the fact that they did not just outright ban the accounts of people who abused this coupon does shock me. Good on EA I guess.

Nintendo cuts the price of the Wii to 129.99

It seems Nintendo is already focusing on pushing more than just the Wii U this holiday season as they announced today that they are changing the price of the Wii to $129.99.  This comes in the form of a new bundle which comes with a Wii Remote Plus, a Nun-chuck  Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. This new SKU will be in stores by this October 28th.

I cant imagine anyone picking up a Wii now especially considering how close we are to the launch of the Wii U but I suppose they do plan on getting a few sales in on Black Friday.

DarkStalkers Resurrection Debut Trailer

Here is something that surprised me. Capcom announced that they are releasing a DarkStalkers compilation pack for XBLA and PSN that has both Night Warriors: DarkStalkers’ Revenge and DarkStalkers 3. The pack is called DarkStalkers Resurrection and will have the same treatment done to it as Street Fighter 3 and Marvel vs Capcom Origins. It’s expected to be released early 2013 for about 15 bucks.

While I am disappointed that this isn’t a new game for the franchise this at least gives me the hope that they may consider making a new one if this pack sells well enough. Plus a GGPO enabled version of DarkStalkers 3 does sound pretty cool. Read the rest of this entry »

God of War: Ascension Collector’s Edition Revealed, Pre-Order Bonus Detailed

Sony recently revealed some info on the collectors edition of the upcoming God of War: Ascension. The collectors edition of the game will sell for $79.99 and comes with a copy of the game’s soundtrack, a code for some future DLC, a PS3 dynamic theme, a double xp unlock for multiplayer, a PSN avatar pack, a steelbook case and a Kratos Statue.

Sony also revealed some details on the pre-order bonus for the game.  Pre-orders will net you the Mythological Heroes multiplayer pack which gives allows you to play as Perseus, Orion, Achilles and Odysseus in the games multiplayer.

The extra’s themselves are kinda cool but I still probably wont be picking this game up. Even if I do think that the Kratos statue is pretty cool.

PlayStation Store gets a graphical update this October 23rd

Sony revealed today at a press event in London that they will be giving the PlayStation store a facelift on the PS3 this October 17th. The store will now feature a tile like design that reminds me of the Windows 8 metro style. The update will also have improved search performance and support for filtering content based on price, genre and peripheral support. The new store will launch this October 17th in Europe and this October 23rd in North America.

Its about time the store got a bit of a face-lift  Hopefully they do it well though, I would hate for the PS Store to suffer the same fate as XBLA did with the more recent Xbox Dashboard update. Read the rest of this entry »

Borderlands 2 gets its first DLC expansion this October 16th

Since the early release of the Borderlands 2 Mechromancer DLC people have been noticing references to the games first planned expansion in achievements that were added into the game. The new achievements references things like quests for “hidden pirate’s booty” and a new area called the Oasis.

Gearbox has since confirmed that the next DLC is coming and sooner than one might expect.  The DLC pack titled “Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty” and is set to release this October 16th. The pack which features a heavy pirate theme will focus on the franchises newest character pirate queen Captain Scarlett. The expansion will also feature new pirate themed enemies and sand-worms to fight in new desert themed zone.

This DLC pack marks the first of 4 promised in the Borderlands 2 season pass but if you are not into buying into DLC early then you can pick up the pack on its own for $9.99.
