Bitty of the Week: Felicia Day

This weeks Bitty of the Week is: Felicia Day. This American born actress and writer began her acting career at the age of 7 when she starred in a local production of To Kill a Mockingbird. Homeschooled for most of her education she began college at the age of 16. Day was accepted to the Juilliard School of Music but chose to attend the University of Texas at Austin on a full scholarship double major in mathematics and music performance; more specifically violin performance.

Bitty of the Week: “Katee” Sackhoff

This weeks Bitty of the Week is: Kathryn Ann “Katee” Sackhoff. This Sci-Fi badass was born in Portland, Oregon, USA in 1980. Her first love was swimming which she began at a very early age and was planning to go pro after she graduated high school in 1998, until her right knee was injured and ended that dream.

Not all was lost for Sackhoff though, as this injury led her to begin practicing yoga which she still continues today, and of course her pursuit in acting. This American actress is known mainly for playing Captain Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on the Sci-Fi television program Battlestar Galactica, for which she was nominated in 2004 for a Saturn Award in the “Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series” category; In May 2006 she won the Saturn Award for the same role. She also starred in the horror-thriller White Noise 2: The Light (2007) and the eighth season of 24 (2010) as Dana Walsh. She also took on roles in such films as Halloween: Resurrection (2002); and has had roles in TV Series such as The Big Bang Theory (2010); Robot Chicken (2007); and Bionic Women (2007). Along with her continued work in voice acting for video games, we can expect Sackhoff in the next installment of the Riddick movies “The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking” set to be released sometime in 2013. Bitty of the Week: Emily Blunt

This weeks Bitty of the Week is: Emily Blunt. This West London native received a rigorous education at Ibstock Place School, a co-ed private school at Roehampton, before  going to Hurtwood House  co-ed boarding school in 1999 where she would excel at sport, cello and singing with also some study in dramatic arts. In August 2000, she was signed by agent Kenneth Mcreddie, who found her work with the West End and the BBC, where she invested in roles of several dramas on stage as well as TV productions; such as Foyle’s War (2002), Henry VIII (2003) (TV) and Empire (2005). In 2001, she appeared as “Gwen Cavendish” in Sir Peter Hall’s production of The Royal Family at Haymarket Theatre, which she won the Evening Standard Award for Best Newcomer.

Bitty of the week: Jennifer Lawrence


This weeks Bitty of the Week is: Jennifer Lawrence. Actress Jennifer Lawrence, was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 15, 1990.  In the summer of 2004 she visited Manhattan at the age of 14 and conducting her first cold read. The agents were awestruck and tried to convince her mother that ‘Jen’ needed to spend the summer in Manhattan and continue auditions. The convincing to pursue acting came when Lawrence was noticed by an agent working on an H&M photo ad and asked her for a picture although she was with her family shopping. The next day, that agent invited her to the studio. She scored some small commercial and film roles, and shortly thereafter her family moved to Los Angeles, where she was cast in the TBS sitcom “The Bill Engvall Show””(2007), and in smaller movies like The Poker House (2008) and The Burning Plain (2008). The big break came when she played Ree in Winter’s Bone (2010), which landed her an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination. Not long after that, she scored the role of Mystique in franchise reboot X-Men: First Class (2011), which lead to her most famous and recent role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games(2012). Lawrence can also be seen in The Beaver (2011), Like Crazy (2011), House at the End of the Street (2012) and Silver Linings Playbook (2012). With the fame from The Hunger Games , it shot Lawrence to new A-List  Celebrity status and made this stunning beauty a superstar among young celebs. Bitty of the Week: Alexandra Breckenridge

This weeks Bitty of the Week: Alexandra Breckenridge. Born in Darien, Connecticut then moving to California when she was 12, Breckenridge first acquired her interest in acting at 13 when she performed in local theater productions; not long afterwards she moved to Los Angeles and began pursuing an acting career. Her first film was the independent comedy Locust Valley (1999). She followed up this performance with minor roles on several successful series including Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997), Dawson’s Creek (1998) and Freaks and Geeks (1999); and the short film D.E.B.S. (2003), which won her Best Short film at the 2003 New York Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. She has also worked on the animated sitcom Family Guy (1999), voicing celebrities such as Christina Aguilera.  In 2002 she appeared in the movie Big Fat Liar (2002) with Paul Giamatti and Amanda Bynes , but In 2006, Breckenridge made her break through with a lead role in the comedy She’s the Man (2006) yet again led by Amanda Bynes. Currently Breckenridge is working on the Thriller Dark set to be released in 2014 and guest appearing in the series American Horror Story (2011). Bitty of the Week: Jessica De Gouw

This week’s Bitty of the Week is: Jessica De Gouw. Unless you’ve seen the known Australian series Underbelly (2011), the chance you have heard of Jessica De Gouw if very slim. The 24-year-old Australian native actress has finally made her way to North America since building her acting career first appearing on Australia’s The Sleepover Club (2006). But now she’s heading to Canada to appear in The CW’s upcoming series, Arrow. She is set to play The Huntress in a multi-episode arc adding yet another vigilante character to square off with, or join, Green Arrow (Stephen Amell). The Huntress’ real identity is Helena Bertinelli, a young woman whose life has been spent around organized crime, and After the terrible mishap of her families murder, Bertinelli decides to avenge her family by becoming the Huntress. One of the great things about playing a character with two identities is that the actress will be able to show the range of her acting. De Gouw will hit the Television screen, and the faces of crime, by episode 6 of series Arrow, to be launched October 10 2012. Thank you Jessica De Gouw for being this week’s Bitty of the Week.

Bitty of the Week: Claudia Black

This weeks Bitty of the Week is: Claudia Black. As an Australian native Black was born and raised in Sydney, attended an all girls school as a child and spent most of her life in Australia, New Zealand, and North America where her career exploded. To this date Black has a swelling portfolio in both acting on camera and a huge contribution to voice acting for the video game industry. Shes best known for her portrayal of Aeryn Sun in the science fiction television series Farscape, Vala Mal Doran in the science fiction series Stargate SG-1, and scoring a role is such films as Pitchblack (2000) with Vin Diesel and as Pandora in the Queen of the Damned (2002). Bitty of the Week: Yvonne Strahovski

This weeks Bitty is: Yvonne Strahovski. This Australian native, born to Polish immigrants attended the University of Western Sydney’s School of Contemporary Arts to study Performance Arts, graduating in 2003. Shortly afterwards, she landed her first role on television in Double the Fist: Fear Factory (2004) . Since then she continued to fill her portfolio by casting in many other Australian television programs, then In 2007, she made her big screen debut in Gone. Her performance with this Australian production caught the attention of casting directors in Hollywood. With this attention, she decided to move from Australia to Los Angeles, USA and immediately landed her breakthrough role as Sarah Walker in the television series Chuck (2007). Since the premier of Chuck, Yvonne has stared in such films as The Canyon, and Killer Elite with Jason Statham, Clive Owen, and Robert De Niro. She has also made her impact on the gaming world giving her voice and time to extremely successful games such as Mass Effect 2 and The 3rd Birthday. As for Yvonnes current work she is to star in season 7 of another very successful television series Dexter. Yvonne Strahovski, thank you for being our bitty of the week.

Bitty of the Week: Janina Gavankar

This weeks Bitty of the Week is: Janina Zione Gavankar. Born November 29, 1980, Gavankar is an American actress and musician, well trained as a pianist, vocalist, and orchestral percussionist as well majored in Theatre at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Gavankar had the pleasure of being part of all female singing group named Endera, which was formerly signed to Cash Money Records. Gavankar is best known for her role as the highly promiscuous lesbian Papi, on the show The L Word, as well as other roles in series such as The Gates, Greys Anatomy, Stargate Atlantis, and The League. Her most recent and current role is a shape-shifter named Luna Garza on HBO’s True Blood. Born in Joliet, Illinois, to Pete and Mohra Gavankar; an Indian Engineer who travelled to America to complete a Masters degree with her mother, a half-Indian and half-Dutch, from Pune, India. Bitty of the Week: Olivia Munn

This weeks Bitty of the Week is: Olivia Munn. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma this undoubtedly beautiful women wins the spot for Bitty this week. With the recent events of Comic-con International San Diego Olivia had her hands full co-hosting the event with her current employer the G4 Network. Having an uprooted childhood consistently moving from place to place, it never wavered this beauty’s interest in entertainment. With a history of modelling and appearances in movies and shows like Big Stan, Date Night, Iron Man 2, and now HBOs new picture The Newsroom, she tries to remain in the light of entertainment and continues to please her viewers. We love her mostly for her work with G4 of course, though as she has admitted in interviews that she isn’t much of a ‘tech geek’ she is still nice to look at….
