This weeks Bitty of the Week is: Felicia Day. This American born actress and writer began her acting career at the age of 7 when she starred in a local production of To Kill a Mockingbird. Homeschooled for most of her education she began college at the age of 16. Day was accepted to the Juilliard School of Music but chose to attend the University of Texas at Austin on a full scholarship double major in mathematics and music performance; more specifically violin performance.
After graduation, Day moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. She landed several roles in various short and independent films, as well as commercials and guest spots on television shows. Eventually she was able to land larger roles in such films as: Bring It On Again, June, and as recurring guest potential vampire slayer in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Day is also the creator, writer, and star of The Guild which was initially hosted on YouTube where it garnered millions of views and fans. The Guild has exploded with popularity and won multiple awards, including the Greenlight Award for Best Original Digital Series Production, the YouTube Video Award for Best Series, the Yahoo! Video Award for Best Series, 2009 Streamy Awards for Best Comedy Web Series, Best Female Actor in a Comedy Web Series, and Best Ensemble Cast in a Web Series.
Though having remarkable success with this web series, Day’s work did not end with The Guild as she moved forward with contributions and roles in such film projects as: Dear Me (2008); Red: Werewolf Hunter (2010); Rock Jocks (2011). Day had also stared in Television series as: Dollhouse (2009); Lie to Me (2009); and Supernatural (2012). Her portfolio also includes writing and producing of projects such as Dragon Age: Redemption (2011), a short series spinoff of the Bioware video game. She also participated in voice acting for video game characters in such hits as: Rock of the Dead (2010); Fallout: New Vegas (2010, Dragon Age: Mark of the Assassin (2011); Guild Wars 2 (2012). What does Day do with her limited free time? Well, it says that she is an avid gamer and probably extremely good at that too.
Felicia Day, thank you for being this cool of a person, and of course, this weeks Bitty of the Week.
